Many gymnasts aspire to perform the illusive iron cross (one of the hardest moves in all of gymnastics) and this video shows why. It requires so much shoulder and back strength that even the progressions are discouragingly hard for all but the fittest athletes. Here is Patrick Peng of New Zealand holding an iron cross for an absurdly long stretch of time.
If you are interested in a progression for working up to the iron cross, the legendary Coach Sommer has a progression over on TMUSCLE.com that is fantastic. If you're looking for gymnastics rings, look no further than Again Faster Equipment. They make excellent Crossfit equipment and also produce much of their media (double win).
