The Mighty Physique of Bobby Pandour

mighty physique of Bobby Pandour

Eugen Sandow got all the attention, but I personally think Bobby Pandour had an equally (if not more) impressive physique than the "Father of Modern Bodybuilding".  Bobby Pandour (who changed his name from Wladyslaw Kurcharczyk) was actually a gymnast with his brother Ludwig before he became a showman.  Pandour refused to train with heavy weights, instead preferring to do bodyweight excercises, muscluar control and focused muscular contractions using 10 lb dumbells.  He also used to carry his brother Ludwig up several flights of stairs which explains his legs.

Only the Mighty...

Pandor or Wladyslaw Kurcharczyk was probably one of the first bona-fide bodybuilders of modern times. He def proved heavy weights are not necessary.

  2. Are there any detailed descriptions of Pandour's gymnastic work? It seems likely that it would involve great leverage disadvantages, static holds & slow transitions, all of which are effective muscle-builders, even when using relatively light resistance.

  4. Due to the era and the fact that Pandour was not particularly well known during his gymnastics days, information on the workouts he did at the time is limited. I would assume he did what you have suggested as well based on his physique and what is known about his training later in his career.

  5. This Guy lifted for sure, and heavy. At the time, they were all gymnasts and strongmen at the same time. Acrobatics and heavy lifting was the same thing.
